UNDERWATER

SIMILAN ISLANDS PHOTO GALLERY 2009
Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai and Richelieu rock has without a doubt home to the best diving in Thailand. Famous for Turtles, Leopardsharks, Manta Rays, Whalesharks and a wide array of macrolife, these areas has lots to offer for those going on liveaboard trips in season from November to April.
These photos were made on early season trips in November and December. SIMILAN IMAGE GALLERY HERE!
LEMBEH STRAIT PHOTO GALLERY 2009
Lembeh Straits in North Sulawesi near Manado has long been known as the muck-diving capital of the World, and nowhere is the spectacular macrolife as abundant as here. These photos were shot over just 12 dives in October 2009 and is jut a small representation of the bizarre macro subject that can be found in these waters. The holy grail of fish, the Rhinopias Apanes, were spotted on three occasions. Pygmee Seahorses, Frogfish, Octopus, Nudibranchs, Ghostpipefish are all there for divers to enjoy. BALI PHOTO GALLERY 2009
Bali is called "Island of the Gods" and for the diver this is an understatement. Authentic local culture combined with black sand shore diving, makes any coastline with beach access a potential divesite. These photos were all done off the beach around Amed and Tulamben, also famous for the Liberty wreck a short swim from the beach. Mola Mola grace the colder waters off Nusa Penida and for pelagic sightings there is no better place. Currents can be crazy and unpredictable but all adds to the fun. BALI IMAGE GALLERY HERE!
WHALESHARK PHOTO GALLERY 2009
In May Whalesharks are drawn to the divesites around Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand, and sometimes they get very close to the popular divesites like White rock. With more than 100 divers in the water, shooting becomes quite a challenge, and the ocean transforms into one big jacuzzi. 29 minutes and 100 frames later I could end my dive and go home with a few selects that made it all worth it. SIPADAN PHOTO GALLERY 2007
Sipadan Island is essentially a pinnacle rising up to the surface from the Celebes seabed, 700m below the waves in Sabah, the Malaysian part of Borneo. It's a magnet for marinelife and on one occation we counted 42 Turtles and 22 Sharks in just one dive on Barracuda Point. The number of daily visitors are regulated by a permit system and ensure that the diving continues to be out of this world. dive it once, and youre spoiled for life. SIPADAN IMAGE GALLERY HERE!
MABUL PHOTO GALLERY 2007
Mabul Island is located jsut 20 min boatride from Sipadan but with shallow waters and an amazing macrolife. Ghotspipefish, Frogfish, Nudibranchs, Blue Ringed Octopus, Flambouyant Cuttlefish are just a few of the attractions on the shallow reefs and sandy bottoms surrounding Mabul. The island is inhabited by local seagypsies and of course, lots of divers. Nearby Kapalai offers similar conditions and marinelife to those with sharp eyes or a good diveguide. TURTLE TOMB PHOTO GALLERY 2007
Few have gone there, and some never returned. Drop to 20m on the wall and you will find a big dark hole, this is the entrance to the mythical Turtle Tomb. Once you go inside a network of narrow tunnels and giant chambers opens up and reveal the last resting place of the lost Turtles, who never found their way out again. A few divers have shared their fate, so stay out unless diving with an experienced diveguide who knows his way around the cave. TURTLE TOMB IMAGE GALLERY HERE!
PERHENTIAN PHOTO GALLERY 2006
Perhentian Islands are two small hideaway islands jsut off the Malaysian coast. The diving is easy, the marinelife plentyfull with Blacktip Reefsharks, Seahorses, Lionfish, Parrot Humpheads, but also the occational Whaleshark passing through. Sugar wreck is a nice diveable wreck lying on the bottom at just 18m, perfect for divers of any level. Currents can be challenging at times, but easy to stay sheltered behind the wreck. PERHENTIAN IMAGE GALLERY COMING SOON!
